CALL FOR NOMINATIONS                  2020 Marion Flagg Scholarships

The Marion Flagg Scholarship Program gives you the perfect opportunity to provide support to colleagues and friends in the field of college counseling and admissions.

Named for one of PCACAC's most outstanding members, the Marion Flagg Scholarship is awarded annually to a group of exceptional educational professionals who are not currently members of PCACAC and who have not previously attended a PCACAC conferencePCACAC and its sponsors provide up to TEN scholarships for counselors to attend the 55th Annual Conference in Harrisonburg, VA from April 19-21, 2020. Self nominations are welcome.

This scholarship specifically targets counselors who work with historically underserved students, minority students or students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Each scholarship includes one year of free membership in PCACAC, one conference registration, hotel lodging (two nights, in room shared with another scholarship winner of the same gender or 50% of the cost of housing for a single room), and transportation.

We invite you to think about PCACAC members who you believe go above and beyond in their work with students and nominate them for a 2020 Counselor of the Year Award, to be presented during our 55th Annual Conference.

Student Support Grant

Do you have a student event or project that you’d like to accomplish over the next many months?  We recognize that members may not always have the financial resources to implement student programming and, since 2013, have provided help through our Student Support Grant (SSG), designed to reimburse counseling professionals in their development and implementation of programs that directly benefit students in the college admissions process.

If you know a way to help your students in the college process, but don't have the funds to carry it out, or you know of a community program that needs funding to deliver college counseling programming, we may be able to help fund the program you've been dreaming about!

Government Relations at Work

This year's Richmond Advocacy Day will be on January 27th and PCACAC's  GRC welcomes anyone who wants to participate.  If you are interested in getting involved, email GRC Chair, Ginger Miller, at [email protected].

NACAC Action Alert!

Congress is soon expected to vote on H.J.Res.76, a Congressional Review Act resolution of disapproval on the Department of Education’s Borrower Defense to Repayment Rule (“Borrower’s Defense rule”). The Department’s rule would place the burden on students to prove they were defrauded and make it more difficult for their loans to be discharged. Encourage your elected officials to support H.J.Res.76 by completing a QUICK action alert! This and other action alerts can be found at

And, check out ways to stay involved with advocacy year-round with NACAC's new Monthly Advocacy Checklist at

SIGs - Special Interest Groups

A SIG is a Special Interest Group that brings colleagues together to explore a topic or population in higher education/    K-12 through discussion, networking and resource sharing. PCACAC has served as a leading affiliate in many ways including launching our very own SIGs at our 2018 Conference. We have grown from 3 to 5 SIGs in just one year, to include: African-American, LatinX, Independent Education Counselors/Consultants, Rural, and First-Generation College Students.

To learn more, connect with our SIGs Chair, James B. Massey, Jr. at [email protected].

We simply can't do it without you!

PCACAC invites you to contribute to our new endowment fund - created to help counselors whose schools, districts or programs are underfunded and/or who need extra support.  With your support, we can provide additional professional development opportunities, programming, and materials for those counselors most in need.  GIVE HERE
