A Message From Our President
Dear PCACAC Community:
As we begin a new year, it is often a time associated with reflection, renewal, and optimism. However, I am finding it hard to find hope these days. Every day, there a is a new group of people losing their rights, being mistreated, or being threatened. So many of our students and their families fall into these groups. When I see their hope for a better future vanish, it is hard to find hope myself.
While this moment brings challenges for many in our communities, it also reinforces the importance of the work we do and the impact we have on our students and their families.
I am reminded of why I entered this profession over 20 years ago; to support students, to advocate for opportunity, and to help build pathways toward a better future. In times like these, the strength of our colleagues and our shared commitment make a meaningful difference.
One opportunity to connect, reflect, and grow is PCACAC's 61st Annual Conference (April 12 - April 14, Cambridge, MD). This year’s theme, “Illuminate Your Path,” reflects our collective ability to support one another and highlight the important work happening across our community. The conference is also a time to recognize those who inspire us. Is there a colleague who has encouraged you, or someone you have seen go above and beyond? I encourage you to nominate them for an award by Friday, January 23, so we can celebrate their contributions.
I hope you will join us as we continue this work together. Rachel Cleaver
