CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
PCACAC's 2020 Student Support Grant

It's hard to believe that 2020 is here!  In planning for the new year, PCACAC encourages you to give some thought to a student event or project that you’d like to accomplish over the next many months.  We recognize that members may not always have the financial resources to implement student programming and, since 2013, have provided help through our Student Support Grant (SSG), designed to reimburse counseling professionals in their development and implementation of programs that directly benefit students in the college admissions process. If you know a way to help your students in the college process, but don't have the funds to carry it out, or you know of a community program that needs funding to deliver college counseling programming, we may be able to help fund the program you have been dreaming about!

APPLY FOR THE STUDENT SUPPORT GRANT by February 21, 2020!

Who may apply?

PCACAC members may apply for the Student Support Grant for their own student program or they may wish to nominate a community member whose volunteer work nurtures college readiness.  One $400 grant will be awarded in 2020.

Grant applications will be reviewed by the SSG Program Committee and the selected recipient (and their nominator, if applicable) will be notified by March 6.  The grant recipient will be acknowledged at our 55th Annual Conference (no reimbursement for attendance).

Selection Criteria

The Student Support Grant may not be used to pay for professional development, speaker honoraria, or to benefit an individual student.

Selection is based on the follow criteria:

  • The program addresses an unmet need in the community.
  • The program can lead to the targeted participants' increased involvement in the college process.
  • The program reaches underserved populations.
  • The program proposal gives detailed plans for the use of the grant.

Upon completion of the grant and submission of all original receipts, the recipient will be reimbursed for expenses related to their program. Use of a grant must be completed by December 31, 2020.  The grant recipient is required to provide a progress report on the planning of the grant-funded program, as well as write a brief article upon conclusion for the PCACAC newsletter.
